located on 630 acres of lush, rolling
countryside. It is located on Hwy 141
and is equidistant between GA 400 and
I-85. This makes for an ideal commute
whether going to the Mall of Georgia,
North Point Mall, or simply traveling
into the city. In the 1990s, a group
of developers formed the Laurel Springs
Limited Partnership to purchase about
630 acres of hilly farmland and woodlands
from Carl Bouckaert in south Forsyth
County. The plans were to build a gated
golf-club community and in 1998, Terrabrook,
one of the partners and the largest
developer of planned communities in
the United States, became the sole developer.
The focal point of the community
is the 18-hole, par 72, Jack Nicklaus
signature golf course with its
English, country-style stone clubhouse
(see interior photo below). The semi-private
course, with its beautiful lakes
and creeks, offers daily play
and a putting green and practice golf
range. The Golf Club, The Emerald
of Laurel Springs, invites you to
private dining and drinks at the
luxurious bar and lounge. The
Pro Shop includes its own perks, including
lessons by certified golf professionals.
The
community also boasts a Stan Smith
swim and tennis complex with eight
lighted tennis courts, pro shop, two
pools, waterslide, exercise room
and Residents Club. The Atlanta Lawn
and Tennis Association (ALTA) offers
competitive league tennis teams. With
instruction from certified professionals
at the Pro Shop, children through
adults can begin or improve their
tennis game. Amenities also include
the Resident's Clubhouse which is
surrounded by basketball courts,
walking and biking trails,
sidewalks and a children's park.
The Clubhouse itself provides
a place for homeowners to gather together
in a setting offering a warming kitchen
and a luxurious vaulted ceiling and
fireplace. Sidewalks lined with laurel
trees and street lights connect the
community's five neighborhoods.
For
the outdoor enthusiast, Laurel Springs
is also in close proximity to many
beautiful parks and the awesome Lake
Lanier. These parks include Midway,
Chattahoochee National and Sharon
Springs. Activities such as baseball,
football, hiking, boating,
skiing, picnicking and
camping abound all year long.
